Meet Texans wide receiver Nico Collins, drafted with the 26th pick of the third round (89th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Position: Wide receiver

Height/Weight: 6-4, 215

School: Michigan

Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama

Collins, a three-time letter winner (2017-19) and two-time All-Big Ten honoree, appeared in 29 games with 22 starts during his three seasons at Michigan. He caught 78 passes for 1,388 yards with 13 touchdowns. He has played for Texans assistant coaches Pep Hamilton and Ben McDaniels, who were on head coach John Harbaugh's staff at Michigan. Collins was named Michigan's Most Improved Player (Offense) Award in 2018 as a sophomore. After a freshman year where he played in just four games with one start, Colins returned the the next season and notched 38 receptions for 632 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games with 11 starts. As a junior, he was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year, making 37 catches for 729 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns. Despite opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, Collins had a strong showing at this year's Senior Bowl and his Pro Day. Collins ran a 4.43 40-yard dash at Pro Day. He was one of just eight Wolverines invited to this year's NFL Scouting Combine. His career-best performance was on Nov. 23, 2019 against Indiana University. Collins caught six passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns. He was named co-Offensive Player of the Gamefor his performance. Collins attended Clay-Chalkville High School and helped lead the team to the Alabama Division 6A state championship in 2014.
